Sports Day

Sports Day!

An exciting day of athletics and friendly competition occurred on Friday as students from Blue and Orange team participated in Abroad's annual Sports Day.  Students pushed their limits and did an amazing job in each event while having a good time along the way.

Our MCs, Hyeri and Angelique, kicked off the event with their skillful narration.  Blue and Orange teams each recited a poem for their teams (written by Chiharu, Karina, and Angelique) and participated in a karate performance.  Mr. Ulu judged audience applause to select a winner.

Mr. Soydan led students in a warm up of jumping jacks, stretches, push ups and more before events got under way.  Games started with a hula hoop race with grades 1-3 and then jump rope with grades 4-8.  Parents joined the fray with the wheel barrow race (grades 1-3 with a few upper grade substitutes) and the three-legged race (grades 4-8).  Relay race followed with extreme excitement as students have been training a long time for a victory in this realm.  Finally, the last event of tug-of-war commenced, first with students and teachers, then with students and parents.

Although everyone did a fantastic job, there could only be one winner.  Congratulations Orange team!  Thank you so much to parents for joining in on the fun and supporting both teams with cheering and positive energy.  Thank you kids for excellent sportsmanship and a friendly competition.
